Happy New Year, coffee lovers and avid readers! Welcome to Olive’s Cafe, a community where we talk about all things Arts and Humanities.
2020 has been… a shit show. (Come on, let’s be honest.) The year was not easy, for obvious reasons, but not just because of Aunt Rona ruining the family picnic. It has been the year that took a toll on us, emotionally, physically, and psychologically. During the last few months of the year, I realized that it was time for a change.
2020 lacked something, and that was GOALS. There was no clear goal during that year, that’s why there was no motivation to write, and even talk about, different topics. For 2021, I want to bring in new goals to accomplish, so readers, and listeners, can receive new material every week.
For 2021, I will post a new article every week on Fridays at 8:30pm, each week will be dedicated to a page: Olive’s Corner, Olive’s Library, Olive’s Tasty Quotas, and Olive’s School of Life. On Saturdays at 6:00pm, I will post a recorded podcast for Olive’s Radio, bringing on topics that have not been written in the site, topics that are too much for the written words.
Speaking of Olive’s Radio, I feel like the past two podcasts, were…how do I put this lightly? BORING. They felt a little…Eh.They didn’t feel real enough. So, I considered a change of direction. I will still have prose and poetry reading, but it would towards the end of each podcast. There will be different topics, but those will be announced weekly before the recordings. Stay tuned!
We will continue to have the Monthly Recommends, and those will be talked on about on the social media accounts: Instagram, Twitter, and now Facebook! Yes, Olive’s Cafe now has an account on Facebook, Prose n’ Sip (also available on Instagram), which is open to anyone for the Monthly Recommends, and put in requests on prose, poetry, and thoughts on the monthly topics. The difference the two is Instagram will be the gallery, and Facebook will be the table.
For your table, Olive’s Cafe is offering the Book and Beverage of the Month: The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien with Hazelnut Latte. If you would like a different recommend, feel free to send a message on Facebook, and I will personally recommend something based on your taste. (Ooh, this is fun!)
The selection was chosen based on the Genre of the Month: Adventure, which will be explored with the chosen novel. I chose this genre for this month specifically because it’s the first month of the year, and Adventures are about new beginnings, in my opinion. So, why not start the Adventure of 2021?
Another Monthly Recommend, for the Theme of the Month, I would like to explore Music, and the magic behind the art medium. I would get into detail, but that’s for Facebook.
